Mud & glass production process

Preparing the ballList item 2The clay blocks are prepared in a clay press. This produces strands that we cut into the correct size. We then form them into balls and place them in buckets that are transported to the turning room.
-
Turning the productList item 3The clay balls are turned on a turntable. All our items are different sizes, and because we use lasers, we can always turn them to the same height.
-
Drying timeList item 4This depends on the outside temperature. If it's 25 to 30 degrees Celsius outside, they can be dry after just one day. But if it's wet and cold, the mugs can take up to two weeks to dry. Once everything is completely dry (Bonedry), they can go into the oven.
-
Biscuit firingWhen the products are dry (bone dry), they are very brittle and porous. The kiln is set up for a biscuit firing. This firing transforms the clay into a hard, solid form, making it less fragile.
-
GlazesWe immerse and dip the products in our glaze buckets. The glazes are made from various raw materials also found in glassware. Once dry, they go into the final firing.
-
The last glaze firingThe final firing is the glaze firing. We fire the kiln to 1210 degrees Celsius to melt the glaze into glass. This makes the product dishwasher, oven, and microwave safe.

Test panelAfter distilling, we can try them right away. And what could be more delicious than drinking coffee from these mugs? Unique and made with love.
